A particularly interesting piece of early American postcard and social-history ephemera: an Ellen H. Clapsaddle patriotic postcard that was converted into a personal keepsake by attaching handwritten school and friend lists with red and blue cord.
The postcard depicts a large American flag with a patriotic quotation from “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The artwork is signed Ellen H. Clapsaddle, and the reverse bears the W&G trademark for New York–Philadelphia.

The attached sheets contain numerous handwritten names and additional numbered lists. They appear to have been intentionally preserved with the postcard as a school or friendship keepsake. The postcard and all attached papers are being sold together exactly as found.
Condition: Age toning, corner and edge wear, light creasing and handling wear. A small hole was punched in the postcard for the attachment cord. The handwritten sheets show folds, toning and other normal age wear. Please review the photographs for exact condition and contents.
